"Y el Señor levantó en Israel un salvador, un gran hombre, una torre de la fortaleza, un erudito y polemista fuerte, un hombre valiente de corazón corajudo, el sabio y gran maestro R. Isaac Campantón, de bendita memoria. Él restauró a los sacerdotes en sus oraciones, a los levitas al púlpito y al pueblo judío a su lugar. Él restauró la gloria y la fuerza pasada y educó a muchos estudiantes y puso una siyag (una cerca) alrededor de la Torá.

Tuvo cuatro grandes estudiantes y amigos a quienes empapó de las vivas y buenas aguas (las enseñanzas) comprometidas a escribir. El nombre del primer polemista, el gran sabio y agudo casuista R. Isaac Aboab (II), de bendita memoria... el sabio R. Isaac de León...R. Josef Hayyun, de bendita memoria y el cuarto, el seguidor de las abundantes aguas del Eufrates, el sabio R. Simon... Y de los cuatro el aprendizaje salió de España y Portugal y de las tierras del oeste
hacia delante.

A donquiera que estos cuatro fueron, sus pasos fueron bendecidos con valor, y de no haber sido por ellos, el aprendizaje de la Torá hubiese cesado"

"And the Lord raised up in Israel a savior, a great man, a tower of strength, and erudite and powerful debater, a man of valiant courageous heart, the scholar and great rabbi R. Isaac Campanton of blessed memory , and he restored priests to the their worship and Levites to the pulpit, and the Jewish people to its standing and he restored (its) former glory and strength, and he educated many students and put a siyag (fence)around the Torah.

He had four great students and friends from whom everyone imbided the good and living waters (the teachings) which are committed to writing. The name of the first polemicist, the great scholar and keen casuist was R. Isaac Aboab (II) of blessed memory… the scholar R. Isaac de León… R. Joseph Hayyun of blessed memory… and the fourth, the following fruitful bountiful waters of the Euphrates, the scholar R. Simeon… and from the four learning went forth to Spain and Portugal and the western land.

Wherever they went, their steps were blessed with valor, and had it not been for them, Torah learning would have ceased".
